Lighouse at Decorex 2026: Creating Warmth Through Furniture and Materials

Every space tells a story through the materials, colours and furniture that fill it. For Lighouse, our Decorex 2026 stand was an opportunity to create more than a display of furniture. We wanted to create a space that people could step into, slow down and feel comfortable in.

Our inspiration was centred around warmth, neutral tones and calm. We wanted visitors to feel drawn into the room and experience a sense of introspection and ease, while imagining how they could bring that same feeling into their own homes.

A key part of achieving this was the combination of our handcrafted wooden furniture with PG Bison materials, creating a balance between the lighter natural oak tones and deeper, warmer textures.

Creating a Calm and Welcoming Space

When designing the stand, we wanted to move away from the feeling of a traditional furniture display.

Instead, the goal was to create a complete environment.

The room was designed to feel warm, considered and inviting, with natural textures and neutral tones working together to create a sense of calm. Every element was chosen with the overall atmosphere in mind, from the furniture and wall panelling to smaller details such as the bed throw and lighting.

As Linki Raubenheimer, co-owner of Lighouse, explains, the intention was to create a space that visitors would feel comfortable entering and would want to recreate in their own homes using Lighouse furniture.

Bringing PG Bison Materials Into the Design

One of the most distinctive elements of the stand was the use of PG Bison boards.

The back wall panelling was created using Thornbury: Natural Touch, bringing a deeper tone and additional warmth into the space.

This darker backdrop created an intentional contrast against the lighter White Oak veneers used on several of the new furniture pieces. Rather than competing with the natural wood, the deeper tone helped the lighter furniture stand out while adding depth to the room.

The darker colour was then repeated through smaller elements within the space, including the bed throw and lamp. These subtle connections helped the entire room feel cohesive rather than making the wall panelling feel like a separate feature.

White Oak Veneer Meets Natural Textures

The chest of drawers, sideboard and two pedestals featured White Oak veneer on their fronts and sides.

The lighter oak worked particularly well against the deeper tone of the PG Bison wall panelling. Together, the materials created a balance between light and dark, natural and contemporary.

This combination also reflects an important part of the Lighouse approach to furniture design: allowing the natural character of wood to remain a key part of the finished piece while incorporating materials that add functionality and a contemporary feel.

The result was furniture that felt warm and natural, while still bringing a fresh and modern element to the collection.

PG Bison Materials Inside the Furniture

The use of PG Bison materials was not limited to the stand itself.

Kalapana: Natural Touch was used for the drawer inners of all the new units, as well as the drawer and door fronts of the wardrobe.

This added a sleek, modern finish to the inside and functional elements of the furniture while offering practical benefits.

The board surfaces are easy to clean and help protect the inside of the furniture, making them well suited to pieces designed for everyday use.

For Lighouse, this combination of natural wooden furniture with carefully selected board materials creates an opportunity to bring together craftsmanship, aesthetics and functionality.

A Practical Feature With a Big Visual Impact

The PG Bison wall boards also offered a practical advantage during the stand build.

The panelling was relatively straightforward to install, allowing us to create a significant visual change without an overly complicated installation process.

The result was a darker, warmer backdrop that helped define the entire room.

This is a good example of how a relatively simple material choice can have a major impact on an interior. Rather than adding more decoration, we used material, colour and contrast to establish the atmosphere we wanted.

Designing Furniture for the Future

The Decorex stand also gave us the opportunity to introduce new furniture pieces and explore how different materials could work within the Lighouse aesthetic.

The new pieces included the chest of drawers, sideboard, pedestals and wardrobe, with the combination of White Oak veneer and PG Bison boards bringing something fresh to the collection.

These pieces are now set to bring a new feel into our showrooms, and we are excited to see how the collection develops.

For us, the Decorex stand was not simply about creating furniture for one event. It was an opportunity to explore new combinations of materials and see how they could become part of the Lighouse range.

How Visitors Responded to the Stand

The response from visitors was incredibly encouraging.

The stand was well received, with particular interest in the new furniture pieces, the couch, bed setup and headboard. We also received many compliments about the overall look and the welcoming feeling of the space.

The combination of the lighter oak furniture, darker PG Bison wall panelling and natural textures helped create the calm and considered atmosphere we had envisioned.

It was rewarding to see visitors respond not only to individual pieces of furniture, but to the room as a whole.

Looking Beyond the Show

Decorex gave us the chance to step back from individual furniture pieces and think about how they work together to create an environment.

The stand reflected what we wanted Lighouse furniture to bring into a home: warmth, natural character, functionality and a feeling of calm.

The use of PG Bison materials allowed us to introduce deeper tones and contemporary finishes while complementing the natural appearance of our wooden furniture.

Most importantly, the response to the stand has encouraged us to continue exploring what this combination of materials and craftsmanship can become.

The new furniture pieces are now making their way into our showrooms, bringing a fresh direction to the Lighouse collection.

From the materials we choose to the furniture we create, every detail contributes to the feeling of a space.

At Decorex 2026, our goal was to create a room people wanted to step into and stay in. Seeing visitors connect with the space showed us that warmth, calm and thoughtful design can make a lasting impression.
